At 30, as a performer, I was still arrogant enough to take certain words as jibes. At almost 50, I have reached a place where I’m okay with people using descriptors like “idealistic, ” “charming, ” “quaint,” “funny, ” and “old-fashioned, ” because it places me in the company of the likes of Fred Rogers, Bob Ross, and Judy Dench. And I’m seriously good with that.
